Young People
22 February: Foundry Lane Primary, Southampton - ‘Step Into Enterprise’ – Reception to Year 6
The whole school participate in a week dedicated to enterprise where they design, make, market and sell a product to help them understand the skills required in running a business. Once the classes have made a start on making their products business visitors are welcomed into the school to find out what they’re working on and to offer them advice on how to proceed. 4 – 5 people are required throughout the day.
23 February: St George School, Southampton - Investment Challenge – Year 10
Students participate in a half-day session in which they are challenged to buy and sell shares in a simulation of a stock exchange. They work in teams covering various roles as they work under pressure to make as much ‘money’ as possible. 4 – 5 people are required for morning only.
29 February: Ringwood School - Leisure and Tourism Carousel – Year 11 to 13
Businesses from the Leisure and Tourism sector are invited to attend Ringwood School to help inform and inspire the students studying that subject about careers within that industry. In small groups the students rotate between different businesses spending about 15 minutes speaking to the employers with questions about career pathways and options. 6 – 7 businesses are required between 13.15 – 15.30.
The role of the Business Ambassador will be to work with small groups of students offering their advice and expertise to help them work through their tasks. Ambassadors may occasionally be asked if they would like to make a key note speech at the beginning or end of the day and they may also be called upon to act as a judge and choose a winning team.
